BUSH’S® DINSPIRATION: THE BULLDAWG

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 can (28 oz) BUSH’S® Homestyle Baked Beans
  • For Bulldawg Sauce:
  • 1 1/4 lbs ground chuck or ground meat of choice
  • 1/2 cup medium white onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup jalapeno pepper, seeds removed and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp chipotle hot sauce
  • For Bulldawgs:
  • 8 each (2-3 oz) beef hot dogs or hot dog of choice
  • 8 each hot dog buns
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese of choice
  • 1 each sweet onion, diced

DIRECTIONS

  1. For Bulldawg Sauce: Preheat wide pan over medium high heat. Once hot, place ground meat on pan and cook for 10 minutes or until brown. While meat is cooking, use spatula to break up meat into fine pieces. Remove meat from pan and drain. Set aside.
  2. Using same pan, sauté onions and peppers over medium high heat for 5 minutes or until onions are soft and translucent.
  3. Add meat and remaining sauce ingredients to pan and stir. (Tip: To make a thicker sauce, increase water to 3/4 cup.) Bring sauce to a simmer and cook 30 minutes or until sauce is reduced and thickened.
  4. For Bulldawgs: Set clean, well-oiled grill to medium heat. When grill is hot, using tongs, place hot dogs on grill. Cook 5-6 minutes. Rotate every 2-3 minutes until hot dog internal temperature is at least 160 degrees F.
  5. Using tongs, remove hot dogs from grill and place in buns. Top with cheese, Bulldawg Sauce and onions.
  6. Serve with BUSH’S® Homestyle Baked Beans.
